Workplace & Entrepreneurship Talent Solutions (WETS), in collaboration with the Media, Information and Communication Technologies Sector Education and Training Authority (MICT SETA), has launched an exciting IT Systems Support Learnership Programme in South Africa as a significant step toward combating youth unemployment and closing the digital skills gap. This project aims to provide young South Africans with academic knowledge as well as practical experience in the field of information and communication technology (ICT), with an emphasis on Information Technology (IT) Systems Support.

About the IT Systems Support Learnership Programme

The WETS-MICT SETA IT Systems Support Learnership Programme is a fully approved 12-month training programme that combines classroom instruction with hands-on job experience. It is aimed for unemployed youth aged 18 to 35 who are interested in pursuing a career in information technology, notably in system configuration, user assistance, troubleshooting, and network maintenance.

Participants will work toward earning the National Certificate in IT: Systems Support (NQF Level 5), a certificate that is both industry-relevant and well-regarded in the technology field. The program includes essential IT subjects such as hardware and software installation, network configuration, operating systems, and IT service management principles.

Why It Matters

However, many South African youngsters continue to have limited access to excellent training and career possibilities. This learnership course not only teaches technical competence, but also soft skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving, all of which are essential in today’s digital economy.
