Eskom Utilityman (General Workers) 2025. Eskom Rotek Industries (ERI), an important business of Eskom, provides critical operational and maintenance services to the energy sector. As part of their continued commitment to operational excellence and worker safety, ERI is presently seeking eight (8) committed Utilitymen for their Vaal Dam site in Gauteng. This position is suitable for people who are physically strong, self-disciplined, and want to work in a technically hard atmosphere.
This job is critical in maintaining cleanliness, operational readiness, and providing general assistance in workshops and operating areas. Candidates must be comfortable with physical labour and have a basic awareness of workplace safety and operating procedures.
Job Description
The Utilityman role comprises executing a variety of unskilled but necessary physical duties to support the Bulk Material Handling operations at the Vaal Dam. The chosen applicants will do heavy-duty labour, such as lifting, pushing, pulling, holding, and providing general support with tools and equipment. They will help to maintain a clean and safe working environment for all workshop activities.

Key Focus Areas Include:
- Performing manual labour and heavy lifting as needed in everyday operations.
- Clean and maintain workshop areas in accordance with health and safety regulations.
- Handling and transporting operating equipment with care and accuracy.
- Assisting technical teams with basic tools and operational responsibilities.
- Actively taking part in toolbox presentations and SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, Quality) seminars.
Minimum Requirements:
To be considered for this position, individuals must satisfy the following requirements:
Educational Qualification:
- Minimum of Grade 12 (Matric certificate).
Work Experience:
- 1–2 years of experience in a technical or operational sector.
- Proven experience in cleaning and maintaining workshop environments.
Role Responsibility:
As a Utilityman, you will be responsible for:
- Keeping the workshop clean, tidy, and safe at all times.
- Maintaining housekeeping standards to promote productivity and safety.
- Ensuring that tools and equipment are organized and kept appropriately.
- Reporting safety risks and taking preventative measures using HIRA (Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment).
- Participate in daily toolbox lectures and safety briefings.
- Meeting all Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) rules and site-specific safety criteria.
