Job Description:

Requirements:

Minimum Qualification:

• Grade 12 (Matric)

Experience:

• 1 to 2 years’ experience in a relevant technical field
• Exposure to labour-intensive situations such as substations, energy, and building sites
• Knowledge or prior experience in the electrical infrastructure industry is beneficial.

Required Knowledge:

• Strong awareness of work processes relevant to the building discipline
• Experience with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA)
• Understanding of safety regulations and risk mitigation
• Basic understanding of cable design and safety regulations.
• Understanding how to handle tools, materials, and equipment safely
• Basic capacity to do a Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA)

Role Responsibility:

The function includes basic operational responsibilities that support the technical aspects of substation building. The key roles include:

• Assisting with the installation, transfer, and transportation of large goods and construction equipment
• Performing labour-intensive tasks such as lifting, loading, unloading, and site cleaning
• Using power and hand tools safely and efficiently under supervision
• Ensure that all tools and equipment are accounted for and stored correctly.
• Assisting technical professionals and craftsmen with cable installations and testing.
• Keeping the work space clean, orderly, and hazard-free
• Enforcing safety, health, environmental, and quality (SHEQ) policies at all times
• Actively participating in team discussions to improve site efficiency and safety.
